Evictions During And After COVID-19
As a result of the pandemic, there are three new laws that have been enacted regarding evictions.
- AB3088, the Tenant, Homeowner, and Small Landlord Relief Act of 2020, was signed and became effective on August 31, 2020 [AB3088].
- On September 1, 2020, the CDC issued an agency order, Temporary Halt in Residential Evictions to Prevent the Further Spread of COVID-19, which became effective on September 4, 2020 [CDC Eviction Moratorium Order].
- SB91, which made changes to the Tenant, Homeowner, and Small Landlord Relief Act of 2020, was signed and became effective on January 29, 2021 [SB91]
- AB832, which made additional changes to the Tenant, Homeowner, and Small Landlord Relief Act of 2020 was signed and became effective on June 28, 2021 [AB832]
